Centers for Independent Living in Maryland: Ready for Sustainability

The Planning Process

Each Center for Independent Living is unique, with different needs and opportunities to respond to changing approaches to community-based living supports and services. Recognizing that you are the experts about your CIL, the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute will work one-on-one with each CIL to understand its infrastructure, strengths, and needs.

What CILs Can Expect

  1. A series of in-person and telephone or video conference meetings to discuss and understand priority needs
  2. Co-development an individualized action plan that outlines feasible strategies to achieve its infrastructure goals 
  3. On-site and off-site training, information, resources, and practical strategies to carry out recommendations
  4. Technical support and ongoing technical assistance as needed
