Centers for Independent Living in Maryland: Ready for Sustainability

About the Project

The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger is partnering with Maryland Centers for Independent Living (CILs)

The goal of the project is to determine each CILs' readiness to implement long-term support services, such as Options Counseling, in accordance with their unique goals, strengths, and needs. The 3 phases of the project are:

  1. Multiple on-site planning and discussion sessions (Jan - March)
  2. Action plan development (April - June)
  3. Training and technical assistance  (June - Sept)

Options Counseling considers an individual’s needs, preferences, values, and circumstances to develop a long-term services and supports plan to achieve goals for independent living. Options Counseling is a key tool for ensuring supportive community living.
